In the distant future the land is ruined and humanity survives in the mobile fort city Plantation. Children born to be pilots are kept in the "birdcage," knowing nothing of the outside world. Their lives consist of piloting robots to carry out missions against the mysterious giant lifeforms known as Kyōryū.
