Help us decide what fan run panels to approve. Only paid members can vote. Members have an unlimited number of votes, but can only vote for a particular panel once. Restricting this to paid members prevents ballot stuffing. Votes for a panel are just one part of the decision process. AF panel staff will make the final determinations. A panel with many votes may be declined and a panel with no votes may be approved. The votes give us an indication of popularity and may also help to decide if a panel should be scheduled in a large or small room.

The history of Magical Girls and why this genre is here to stay, from the beginnings of Princess Knight to the endearing classic Sailor Moon to the newer grimdark hit Puella Magi Madoka Magica. This panel takes a lens to the idea of 'mahou shoujo' anime and will discuss the different troupes within the anime, where the genre rooted from and why anyone from young girls to grown men seem to love these girls. The audience and the panelists will engage in discourse about this type of anime and its many offshoots. Small prizes will be given out to audience members that answer questions that will be given throughout the panel. With the re-airing of the subtitled Sailor Moon being released on Hulu this summer and the new anime reboot Sailor Moon Crystal, the magical girl genre is on fire; these kick-ass, lipstick, frill-wearing girls are taking the world by storm and are forever in our hearts.
