Body Recomp for Cosplay 201: Completing Your Transformation
Dual Presentation ACTIVE
Body Recomp for Cosplay is a series of courses created by Jon Brown, the founder of growing social media groups “Nerds Who Lift Weights.” Jon has over 10 years of professional fitness experience and 9 fitness certifications. Jon has over 10 years of professional fitness experience and 9 fitness certifications. His co-panelist, Jazz Daigle, has 5 years of training experience and 3 certifications.

Nerds Who Lift Weights was created because of the important role social support plays in program adherence and because fitness culture traditionally has not been very welcoming to those who identify as nerds or geeks. Knowing this, we also see an opportunity to provide useful information to people who have the goal of transforming their bodies but do not feel comfortable in traditional fitness spaces and/ or are unsure of what to do and where to start.

Disclaimer: We provide this information, because our passion is helping people become the most fit versions of themselves, and we enjoy helping people find the best path for them to reach their goals. For many people, living their best life means working in various ways to achieve an outward appearance that reflects who they are inside. Empirical Fitness does not subscribe to the idea that appearance has to be one’s main goal or focus, that one’s fitness or health can be judged solely based on appearance, or that appearance determines someone’s value or worth. We do not condone body shaming of any kind.

This is a great panel for anyone who already has a fitness regimen but isn’t seeing results or has hit a plateau. It’s also great for dedicated cosplayers who want to more closely look the part of the characters they portray. While this is not an adult-themed panel, we do cover some topics on which some parents may want to provide guidance such as human anatomy, sexual attraction, performance enhancing drug use, “ideal” body types (based on sociological studies) and the mental and emotional toll of negative body image.

Hi my name is Jon Brown and I’m a Body Recomp Coach. I help nerds level up their workouts and nutrition in order to upgrade their bodies.
Body Recomp for Cosplay 201 was developed after the overwhelmingly positive response to our first panel presentation of Body Recomp for Cosplay 101. It is a follow up panel that goes beyond basic principles and concepts to discuss the more complex details of a fitness and nutrition regimen that takes a person from looking “fit” to leveling up and getting the arms of a Saiyan, abs like Asta, a waist like Tifa, or the thighs of an Earthbender. We end with a Q&A so that attendees have the opportunity to get answers for their specific issues.
