Details Applicable to Both Cosplay Runway and Hall Cosplay

Judging Time Allotment

Sessions are timed and are constrained to the following:

Entries consisting between 1-3 members will have 5 minutes maximum

Entries consisting between 4-6 members will have 7 minutes maximum

Entries consisting between 7-8 members will have 10 minutes maximum
If you as an individual entrant or your group goes past the timer, you will be asked to leave the room.

Groups

Each member will need to submit a form individually. Please decide upon some sort of group name in advance. For instance, if your group name is “Gotta catch ‘em all”, you must ALL list “Gotta catch ‘em all” as your group name on your form. If for some reason you only put “catch” as your group name, don’t be surprised if we reach out to you inquiring what group you belong to, we don’t want you being an orphan.

Reference Images

You must submit supporting character documentation. For entrants applying online, there will be fields in which you need to directly link to the reference images (consider a free Photobucket account or use imageshack.us if you do not have your own host - please do not link to Facebook or other social media sites.) Should you decide not to fill out the online form and sign-up on-site, you will still need reference images present.

Cosplay Runway Forms

Cosplay Runway sign-up forms are designed so that we can provide our judges some brief information about your cosplay/costuming history and the work you have put into the costume you are entering. Basically we give the judges a quick overview right before you enter the room for your pre-judging session. Therefore it’s important for you to think about your responses on the form.

Time Slot Availability

Note that when we email you in regards for sign-up slots, we will email on a first come, first serve basis in terms of when you submitted the Cosplay Runway Entry Form. Dates and times may not be available until about 1-2 weeks prior to the convention, please do not email asking to sign up for your time beforehand. This is why it is important on the form that you select your preferred method of contact in which we can receive the quickest response.

Seating Arrangements

Please stick around outside the judging room for a few moments after your pre-judging session has ended. You will then be assigned a letter and a number to declare your division rank and your seating arrangements for the actual event.

The deadline has passed. Visit us at Cosplay HQ for questions about signing up.

Hall Cosplay Forms

Hall Cosplay sign-up forms are designed so that we can provide our judges some brief information about your cosplay/costuming history and the work you have put into the costume you are entering. Once you show to the event, we will give the judges your documentation so that they have an overview. Therefore it’s important for you to think about your responses on the form.

Walk-Ins

Hall Cosplay does not require that you sign up for a time slot in advance. As the convention draws closer, there will be approximately a 3-4 hour timeframe allotment on Saturday in which Hall Cosplay will be open, where you may visit anytime during that period to be judged.

The deadline has passed. Visit us at Cosplay HQ for questions about signing up.

Cosplay Skit Forms

The cosplay skit forms are designed to give the judges a little bit about your performance and masquerade background, as well as where the idea of your skit derived from. This is provided to the judges during the judging process.

Individual Entrants and Group Entrants

When filling out the form, in later pages you will be asked to provide your skit title, division, what your skit was inspired by and description of the skit (limited to 60 words or less which is used for announcing your skit at the event). Please make sure to think about these questions in detail before going on to fill out the form, especially for those that are part of groups when making a division selection.

If you need to change your skit title or your description, please contact cosplay [at] animefest [dot] org.

Group Members

You will not be asked details about your skit title, division and so forth. You will only fill out personal details and the group that you belong to.

Reference Images

Reference images for skits are not required but encouraged. Please only link to the character you are portraying, not other members of your group. There will be fields in which you need to directly link to the reference images (consider a free Photobucket account or use imageshack.us if you do not have your own host - please do not link to Facebook or other social media sites.)

The deadline has passed. Visit us at Cosplay HQ for questions about signing up.

While no changes are forseen in regards to the process of the events and sign-up forms, certain circumstances may require changes be made. Any changes will be noted in bold red print.
