
After graduating from Art School, she joined the Anime Studio, Madhouse. Ms. Yamamoto was soon creating storyboards for numerous shows and she had her first experience with episode directing at age 25.
Ms. Yamamoto's full directorial debut came in 2008, with the wildly popular, Michiko and Hatchin television series. She also helped direct several episodes of Shinichiro Watanabe's Samurai Champloo television series.
Ms. Yamamoto was in charge of costume design and the original art for Takeshi Koike's World Record OVA. Working with Director/Animator Takeshi Koike again on his full length feature film, REDLINE, she was responsible for creating storyboards and the original background art.
In 2012, Ms. Yamamoto directed her second television series which was titled Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine.

Some other projects in which Ms. Yamamoto has been involved in include Ergo Proxy (storyboards and episode director), Psalm's of Planets: Eureka Seven (storyboards and episode director), Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance (storyboard), High SChool of the Dead (storyboard), and Gunslinger Girl (storyboard and unit director), just to name a few.
