AnimeFest 2014 Hall Cosplay Rules
General Hall Cosplay Rules
[list][*]All Hall Cosplay participants must be members of AnimeFest 2014. Your badge must be present and visible at all times.
[*]All costumes must pertain to Anime, Manga, J-Pop, J-Rock, Video Games, Comics, or Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Original characters must have reference art, and all entries must be presented with a reference image.
[*]No costume is NO COSTUME.
[*]You MUST wear shoes at all times. This is a hotel regulation, so even if your character does not wear shoes, please bring something as simple as flats, flip-flops, or even a pair of tennis shoes that you might have. This will not be counted against you in the judging process.
[*]At least 50% of the costume must be handmade or significantly altered, not store bought or commissioned, otherwise you will not be able to enter in the Hall Cosplay event.
[*]No real weapons of any kind. Please read the convention Weapon Policy and if you have questions, contact the Cosplay Manager.
[*]Cosplay groups will be judged as a single entry. Groups may split and be judged as individuals, but only if they made at least 50% of their own costumes. Commissioned costumes may only be entered in a group that includes their creator.
[*]If you have a bulky costume and you need special accommodations, please contact the Cosplay Manager in advance.

The AnimeFest Cosplay Staff reserves the right to disqualify anyone for any reason at their discretion.
Divisions and Awards
Costumes entered in the Hall Cosplay Contest will be judged within divisions, and those divisions are as follows (loosely based off ICG Guidelines):OPEN:

[*]This category is intended for costumers with novice to intermediate skills in making costumes.
[*]No Open Division entrant may have won more than three minor awards or more than one major award at previous conventions.

ADVANCED:

[*]The Advanced category is intended for people with advanced formal training in costuming or fashion, extensive skill or experience in making costumes, or who have won several awards for costumes (more than 1 major or 3 minor awards).
[*]Anyone may register for this division.

If a Judge, Cosplay Manager, or Director feel that you should be placed in a higher division based off the craftsmanship and presentation of your costume, you may be initially moved to a different division in which you had applied for.
Awards are as follows:
[list][*]First Place: This is given to an entrant who has shown an exceptional degree of craftsmanship and execution for their particular class. One award will be given to each division.
[*]Second Place: This is given to an entrant who has shown a high degree of craftsmanship and execution for their particular class. One award will be given to each division.
[*]Judges’ Awards: Granted by the judges for an entrant that they feel was exceptional. Any division may qualify.
[*]Best Youth: Granted by the judges for an entrant aged 12 or under that they feel was exceptional.

Entry Form
Signup and judging for Hall Cosplay will take place on Friday, August 15, at 12-2pm and 3-5pm.Forms will be available for the duration of the Hall Cosplay event. To enter, you must pick up a form on-site and fill it out to the best of your ability. If you have any questions about division, please ask the judges when you reach the front of the line.
You must submit a character reference image with your entry, so that the judges can judge more accurately.
Other
If you have any further questions, please contact the Cosplay Manager at cosplay [at] animefest [dot] org. Please mention Hall Cosplay in at least the title of your email.Awards are announced after the conclusion of the event and will be posted outside the room, as well as announced during the Cosplay Competition on Sunday.
All prizes, including certificates and trophies, must be picked up by Monday, August 18th by 3pm or be forfeited. Any reference materials submitted during judging may also be picked up until this time.
