Akemi Takada

Character Designer, Illustrator

Born in Tokyo. Zodiac Sign: Aries.

Takada's passion for illustrating began in her early childhood, and continues strong today. She attended Tama Art University and graduated with a degree in graphic design.

After graduating, Takada joined Tatsunoko Production. It was there she learned the profession of Character Design. Eventually Takada became a freelance artist and worked on Urusei Yatsura, Magical Angel Creamy Mami, Kimagure Orange Road, Fancy Lala, and Mobile Police Patlabor.

Exhibitions featuring Takada's original artwork have been held in the United States, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Personal and Group art exhibitions are also held periodically in Japan.

For nearly the past two decades, Takada has also been deeply involved in designing and making jewelry. She continues her pursuit of creating "joyful world views" by expanding beyond the two dimensional and delving into the realm of the three dimensional.

Recently, Takada created the character designs for CoCO & NiCO, a short animation series about princess cats that is airing on NHK WORLD in over 150 countries.
